Rosalee Coleman Obituary

Rosalee Coleman - Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend - passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at 5:50 PM surrounded by loved ones. She was a fabulous 85 years old and full of life.


Born on December 17, 1939, in Columbia, SC, Rosalee moved to New YorkCity as a teenager when her family decided to relocate. She graduated fromCharles Evans Hughes high school in Manhattan. Soon after, she began a longcareer at Lamston’s department store, where she worked for more than 25 yearsand rose to the position of general manager.


On November 27, 1961, she married the love of her life, Mr. Billie Coleman Sr. Their marriage of 38 years was built on devotion, laughter and strength; togetherthey raised six children - Narline (preceded in death), Angie, Billie Jr., Zina, Zachary, and one grandchild Meeker- and made their home in the Red Hook community of Brooklyn, NY.


She was the proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and were the center of her world. Rosalee was predeceased by her husband, Billie Coleman Sr., her daughter, Coleman, and her mother, Lula Jackson-Myers.


She is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and brothers Isaac Myers (JoAnn), and Charlie Myers; her sisters, Barbara, Diane, and Charlene Myers; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a large family, and a host of friends.


Throughout her life, Rose was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She loved dancing, cooking, and celebrating life’s moments with those she cherished most. She and Billie built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories, that continue the generations they leave behind.
