Raúl Ramón Quiñones nació el 17 de noviembre de 1934 en Tumaco, Colombia, y falleció en paz, el 26 de diciembre de 2025 en Brooklyn, Nueva York.

Desde pequeño, Raúl se dedicó profundamente a sus hermanos y hermanas, asumiendo la responsabilidad de su familia desde la niñez. Este fuerte sentido del deber lo llevó, de joven adulto, a mudarse a Cali, Colombia, en busca de mejores oportunidades. Fue allí donde Raúl persiguió plenamente su amor por la música con pasión y determinación. Cantaba en clubes sociales locales y compuso y grabó música popular de la época, compartiendo su talento con todos los que lo conocieron. Fue durante su estancia en Cali que conoció al amor de su vida, Fanny Ramírez. Se enamoraron profundamente, se casaron y comenzaron su vida juntos. En 1967, viajaron a Nueva York en busca de su sueño americano, llevando consigo esperanza, ambición y un vínculo inquebrantable.

Raúl trabajó durante muchos años en el mantenimiento de edificios con Prudential Cleaning Company. Posteriormente, fundó su propio negocio manejando edificios e inversiones de negocio de bienes raices. Era conocido por su sólida ética de trabajo, inteligencia e integridad, y se enorgullecía de su trabajo y de cuidar a su familia. Estos valores también se inculcaron profundamente en sus hijos y nietos. Raúl también tenía un gran sentido del humor y le encantaba deleitar a familiares y amigos con ingeniosas anécdotas e historias de su vida. Hincha de toda la vida del club de fútbol América Cali y un gran aficionado de los Yankees de Nueva York, Raúl se mantuvo fiel tanto en las buenas como en las malas, e incluso con acceso a la cadena de los Yankees, seguía disfrutando de escuchar los partidos en su pequeña radio.

La fe fue una fuerza central y sustentadora en la vida de Raúl. Católico devoto, vivió guiado por la fe y el servicio. Sirvió como sacristán en la iglesia de San Francisco Xavier en Park Slope, Brooklyn, y también fue cursillista. Su fe fue una fuente constante de fortaleza y propósito a lo largo de su vida.

A Raul le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Ramón Fandiño y Rosa Balbina Quiñones y sus hermanos Danilo Quiñones y Aura Matilde Quiñones. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Fanny Quiñones; sus hijos Raúl H. Quiñones, Spring Quiñones, Janet (Timothy) Eatman, Patricia Cortes, Rose H. Quiñones y John R. (Valerie) Quiñones; y su hijastra Amparo González

También le sobreviven sus queridos nietos Marlow Quiñones, Erika (Andy) Harkins, Ricardo Moreno, Amanda Moreno, Jasmin (Gregory) Darville, Jamila Eatman, Lina Jennifer Sinisterra, Carolina Quiñones y Adrianno Quiñones; y sus bisnietos Abigail Harkins, Ava Harkins, Gael Quiñones, Sol Quiñones y Gregory “Trey” Darville III.

A Raúl también le sobreviven sus hermanos Didimo Fandiño y Beatriz Quiñones, así como sus muchos y queridos sobrinos, sobrinas, sobrinas nietas y sobrinos nietos, en Colombia y España, incluidos Olga Lucía, Beatriz, Andres, y su sobrina nieta Katherin.

Raúl fue profundamente querido por todos los que lo conocieron. Será recordado por su amor y devoción a su familia, su fe inquebrantable, su gran sentido del humor y la fortaleza con la que vivió su vida. Su legado perdura a través de su familia y de las muchas vidas que tocó.

Al lamentar su fallecimiento, encontramos consuelo y esperanza en nuestra fe, confiando en la promesa de vida eterna por medio de Jesucristo. Encomendamos a Raúl a la misericordia de Dios, confiados en que ahora descansa en la paz del Señor, donde, “ya no habrá muerte, ni llanto, ni clamor, ni dolor” (Apocalipsis 21:4). Lo extrañaremos profundamente y lo recordaremos por siempre.

Raul Ramon Quiñones, born on November 17, 1934, in Tumaco, Colombia, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Brooklyn, New York.

From an early age, Raul was deeply devoted to his brothers and sisters, taking on the mantle of responsibility for his family. This strong sense of duty led him, as a young adult, to move to Cali, Colombia in search of greater opportunities. It was there that Raul fully pursued his love of music with passion and determination. He performed in local social clubs and wrote and recorded popular music of the time, sharing his gift with all who knew him. It was while living in Cali, that he met the love of his life, Fanny Ramirez. They fell deeply in love, married, and began their life together. In 1967, they journeyed to New York City in pursuit of their American Dream, carrying with them hope, ambition, and an unbreakable bond.

Raúl worked for many years in building maintenance with the Prudential Cleaning Company.  Later, he founded his own business managing buildings and various real estate investments. He was known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and integrity, taking great pride in his work and in providing for his family. These values were also deeply instilled in his children and grandchildren. Raul also had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted family and friends with witty anecdotes and stories drawn from his life. A devoted lifelong  America Cali soccer club  fan and a huge New York Yankees supporter, Raul remained loyal in both good times and bad—and even with access to the Yankees network, he still loved listening to games on his small transistor radio.

Faith was a central and sustaining force in Raul’s life. A devoted Catholic, he lived guided by faith and service. He served as a sacristan at St. Francis Xavier Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and was also a “Cursillista”. His faith remained a constant source of strength and purpose throughout his life.

Raul was predeceased by his parents, Ramon Fandiño and Rosa Balbina Quiñones and his siblings Danilo Quiñones and Aura Matilde Quinones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fanny Quiñones; his children Raul H. Quiñones, Spring Quiñones, Janet (Timothy) Eatman, Patricia Cortes, Rose H. Quiñones, and John R. (Valerie) Quiñones; and his step-daughter Amparo Gonzalez

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Marlow (Sedina) Quiñones, Erika (Andy) Harkins, Ricardo Moreno, Amanda Moreno, Jasmin (Gregory) Darville, Jamila Eatman, Lina Jennifer Sinisterra, Carolina Quiñones, and Adrianno Quiñones; and his great-grandchildren Abigail Harkins, Ava Harkins, Gaël Quiñones, Sol Quiñones, and Gregory “Trey” Darville III.

Raul is further survived by his siblings Didimo Fandiño, Beatriz Quiñones,as well as his many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, in Colombia and Spain, including Olga Lucia, Beatriz Lozano, Andres, and his grand-niece Katherin.

Raul was deeply cherished by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his unwavering faith, his great sense of humor, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.

As we mourn his passing, we find consolation and hope in our faith, trusting in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We commend Raul to the mercy of God, confident that he now rests in the peace of the Lord, welcomed into God’s loving embrace, where “there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain” (Revelation 21:4). He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
