Brooklyn, New York— Alice Joyce Vazquez, a life-time resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, born June 21, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York passed away quietly, with her family by her side, Wednesday the 6th of December, 2017 at Woodhull Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York. Alice was devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Above all she was a gentle soul, truly an Angel. Alice was the belle of the dance floor, noted for her much sought after exquisite Latin dancing abilities. Alice mentored many young dancers in New York City nightclubs and dance venues, including the famous Rainbow Room. She also shared her musical skills on organ, piano, guitar and song. Alice loved family, friends, good food, socializing, Christmas lights and music. She served her community Senior Center by providing regular visits and entertainment. She always had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and stories that would lift the spirit of those around her. She is survived by her four children Daughters Naomi Castro (Gary Hubbard), Ruth Jensen (Dr. Ken), Sons Carlos Castro (Sandra), David Castro; Grandchildren Victor Crespo (Paula), Christopher Diaz (Aubrey), Christie Gammon (Justin), Dorene Fanady (Matt), Melissa Mallari, Joshua Castro (Jami), Nicole Castro, Eric Jason Castro and 16 Great-Grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her lifelong companion and friend, Roger Ramos; her brother John Vazquez; sister Elizabeth Rivera; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom live in in New York and across the country. It was her family that brought Alice the greatest joy over the years. Las Rosas Funeral Service, Brooklyn, New York has been entrusted with arrangements.
